At 23 I found myself sitting in a doctor’s office, being told the only solution to my chronic pain was Botox injections into my bladder. Yes, Botox.
Fresh out of grad school and living in Boston, my health was a mess. I was in constant pain, anxious, and stressed while juggling multiple jobs and frozen meals. The diagnosis? Interstitial Cystitis, a chronic inflammatory condition linked to stress.
But something didn’t feel right. Not once did anyone ask me about my diet, lifestyle, or stress levels. Instead of rushing into a clinical trial, I booked an appointment with an Ayurvedic practitioner — a last-ditch effort that changed everything.
She guided me through a 10-day Ayurvedic cleanse focused on simple, nourishing foods and grounding practices. By the end, my symptoms disappeared, and for the first time, I felt in control of my health.
Fast forward 12 years: Ayurveda has become my foundation for balance, healing, and thriving.Â
Not only that but it's allowed my to ditch the diet culture mentality that I grew up with in the 90's and 2000's. I live my life from a place of empowerment and trust in my body, rather than from a place of fear and restriction.Â
Once I felt the life changing impact of living an Ayurvedic and Yogic lifestyle, it became my mission to share this wisdom with others. I received my Holistic Health Coaching certification through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in 2013. In 2020 I completed my Ayurvedic Health Coaching Certification from the Joyful Belly School of Ayurveda. In 2021 I completed my Hormone Health Coaching Certification through IIN. In addition to health coaching certifications I am also an E-RYT 500 yoga instructor with 13+ years of experience teaching individuals and group classes. A firm believer that a teacher must always remain a student, you will always find me knee deep in continuing education as I am I continue to study with master teachers in both Ayurveda and Yoga.Â
When you learn to trust in the wisdom of your own body, amazing things happen. Ready to feel it for yourself?Â
